African Jews: <\/strong>Panafricanism or Zionism <\/strong>Part II <\/strong>Parallelism<\/strong><\/p>\n The Zionism movement in Europe for creation of a Jewish Home Land and the Panafricanism\u00a0\u00a0 struggle in Diaspora for civil rights and the \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0liberation of \u00a0Africa from Colonialism have a \u00a0historical parallel.<\/p>\n Both movements were struggling \u00a0for their own dispersed population created ideological organizations called Zionism and Panafricanism. \u00a0They were led by two bright intellectuals of their time:-<\/p>\n \ufeff\ufeff<\/p>\n Theodor (Binyamin Ze\u2019ev) Herz<\/span><\/strong>l and William Edward Burghardt Du Bois<\/span><\/strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Both were born in the same decade Theodor (Binyamin Ze\u2019ev) Herzl May 2<\/a>, \u00a01860<\/a> in\u00a0Pest<\/a>, the modern\u00a0Budapest<\/a>, While Dubois was born \u00a0February 23<\/a>, 1868<\/a> in\u00a0Great Arrington<\/a>,\u00a0Massachusetts<\/a>. And both graduated from university with a Doctorate Degree as a minority in their respective society on the subject which most fit the need of their respective people.\u00a0\u00a0 1884 Herzl was awarded a Doctorate of law from the University of Vienna as being the first to \u00a0come of the minority Jews community. According to their decade of age deferent \u00a0in 1895 Du Bois became the first\u00a0African American<\/a> to earn a\u00a0Ph.D.<\/a> from\u00a0Harvard\u00a0\u00a0the most distinguished American University.<\/p>\n Herzl He became a writer, a playwright and a journalist\u00a0 and founder of\u00a0 Zionist Congress and founded Zionism as an ideology,\u00a0 while Dubois\u00a0 was a Civil Rights Activist, cofounded\u00a0 NA ACP National Association the\u00a0 for the Advancement of Colored People and most of all Panafricanism. As an \u00a0ideology which aspired \u00a0to these days \u00a0the unification of over 50 African countries since 1963.<\/p>\n And both \u00a0populations were \u00a0victims of\u00a0 Holocausts, Slavery,\u00a0 mass deportations\u00a0 and\u00a0 destructions\u00a0 at one point of their\u00a0 respective\u00a0dispensation\u00a0:-<\/p>\n Firstly six decades ago over 6 million Jewish perish in the <\/span><\/strong><\/em>Shoah<\/span><\/strong> <\/span><\/strong><\/em>in \u00a0the <\/span><\/strong><\/em>life time of <\/em>Herzl and Dubois .<\/em><\/p>\n The Secondly \u00a0 un accounted \u00a0\u00a0millions of \u00a0Africans perish in the \u00a0trans- Atlantic salve trade that lasted over \u00a0400 years. \u00a0The \u00a0abduction Africans\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0started in 1442,according the late\u00a0 Roger Bastid over 20 Million Africans died in this inhuman traffic.<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Thirdly\u00a0\u00a0 the Hebrews were victims of ancient Egyptian, Babylonian, Greek, Roman Slavery even as early as 1500 BCE with a continues inhuman depilation and deportations<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n Herzl started Zionism\u00a0 \u00a0as an arm \u00a0to fight \u00a0 anti Semitism of\u00a0 his time\u00a0 \u00a0in Paris in connection with the\u00a0 Capitan Dreyfus \u00a0\u00a0a Jewish officer victim of\u00a0 anti-Semitism <\/a> in his classic\u00a0 book\u00a0 \u201c The Jewish\u00a0 State\u201d\u00a0 which he declared:-<\/p>\n “At Basle I founded the <\/span><\/strong><\/em>Jewish State<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/a> <\/span><\/strong><\/em> <\/span><\/strong><\/em>If I said this out loud today l would be greeted by universal laughter. In five years perhaps, and certainly in fifty years, everyone will perceive it”<\/span><\/strong><\/em> <\/em><\/p>\n William Edward Burghardt Du Bois, Founded pan\u00a0 African movement called\u00a0 for \u201ctwo land struggle \u201c for the liberation of Africa as a home land for all people of African descent,\u00a0 and the emancipation of people of African descent in Americas. His Panafricanist movement becomes the corner stone to what is today known as the movement of Panafricanism.<\/p>\n The founding fathers of Zionism and Panafricanism Both Herzl and Du Bois followed the parallelism of their enlightenment period, that of the Jewish revival and the beginning of the emancipation of the people of African descent at home and Diaspora.<\/p>\n 1897\u00a0 both Joseph Herzl and W.E.B. Du-Bois 13 years after the beginning of\u00a0 Scramble for Africa\u00a0 held\u00a0 congress in parallel one\u00a0 for the creation of\u00a0 a home land for the Jews the other for the creation of liberated and independent home land for the people of African descent.<\/p>\n In 1897 symbolically William Edward Burghardt Du Bois 400 years after the 1st<\/sup> slave abducted \u00a0in Americas, and 40 years \u00a0before the creation of Ghana(1957) as the first independent state of Liberated Africa, \u00a0\u00a0with the help of\u00a0\u00a0 Henry Sylvester-Williams<\/a>, held \u00a0the 1st<\/sup> African congress\u00a0 in Trinidad. \u00a0Dubois made the famous declaration on his speech on the color bar in the 1s <\/sup>African Association ever held in history:<\/p>\n “The problem of the 20th century is the problem of the color line \u201c<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n <\/em><\/p>\n The 1897 Panafrican and Jewish congress \u00a0\u00a0were held a year after great African victory against European colonialism at Adwa by the King of Kings Menelik II of Ethiopia in 1896.\u00a0 The victory halted the Scramble for Africa that started after the Berlin Conference in 1884\/85. \u00a0Such historical victory gave a hope for all the people victim of subjugation and domination. It was highly veneered by the People of African descent. Menelik II of Ethiopia ushered the beginning of\u00a0 \u00a0the emancipation and liberation of Africans at home and Diaspora. Many Europeans recognized his sovereignty and established a diplomatic representation at his court in Addis Ababa.<\/p>\n Dark Days <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n In the coming dark\u00a0 days of the 2nd<\/sup> WW for the\u00a0 Africans and Jews , Dubois\u00a0 declared when\u00a0 Fascist\u00a0 Mussolini\u00a0 gazed the only independent \u00a0black kingdom in Africa\u00a0 and his \u00a0pride \u00a01938 :<\/p>\n \u201cEthiopia proud and Free has come to the thinking Negro African descent the symbol of the aspiration of Black people for independence for self determination and <\/span><\/strong><\/em>The animation of that is the best in Modern Civilization\u201d<\/span><\/strong> <\/strong><\/em>W.D.B. Dubois\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Destiny endowed both Du Bois in Germany and Herzl in Vienna to \u00a0study \u00a0and master \u00a0the German langue and mentality \u00a0in post Bismarck era, and later to \u00a0watch the epic \u00a0of Nazism.\u00a0 When the Holocaust\u00a0 befallen on the Jewish people in the second world war Dubois immediately did not\u00a0 hesitate making the \u00a0parallelism of the two victims \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0that of the Ethiopians by Fascism and the Jewish by Nazism most of \u00a0all his\u00a0people\u00a0in\u00a0Americas\u00a0declaring :-<\/p>\n
